Ringsend & Irishtown May Day Festival

ringsend festival

Over the May bank holiday weekend, I had the pleasure of heading to the Ringsend and Irishtown May day festival. The festival which is into its 7th year kicked off opening with a parade lead by the local marching band, members of the Defence Forces, the Irish Red Cross, members of the Local Gardai and the Lord Mayor Alice Foley.

Opening the show, a group called Overdub gave an excellent rendition of Bruno Mars, hit “Locked Out Of Heaven“.

Second act up where members of Ringsend School Of Rock – The Juniors. They performed unique covers from Rihanna to Daft Punk.

Next, Motion Control took to the stage and gave us an energetic performance of their hits and one including their newest release “Dirty Colours”. Motion Control yet again put on a great show!

Many other acts took the stage including Grandads– a group of 11 and 12 year olds, who gave us some great covers including “Long Time Running” and “Whats The Story Morning Glory“.  Solo act Shay Connolly gave a touching performance of a song he wrote, inspired by Margaret Keogh, a woman who fought in the 1916 Rising and was tragically killed. Lastly, a group by the name of K.C.R provided a lively cover of Michael Jackson’s hit Billie Jean along with many others.

The Show was a fantastic success and I look forward to the next one!
