St Catherines Sport Centre Became Make Shift Emergency Shelter

St Catherine’s Sports Centre on Marrowbone Lane was an Extreme Cold Weather Emergency Shelter during the recent emergency. The work was coordinated by the Peter McVerry Trust. They were providing shelter to up to 81 people on Tuesday the 27th February.

Pat Doyle affirmed that “everyone who is staying with us doesn’t have to leave.” Safetynet teams were visiting centres to support clients and some centres were looking for a local barber who could provide services.

Dublin 8 schools have supported the trust with food.

As always with dangerous weather events, take care of your neighbours. Contact especially the elderly or housebound to ensure that they are not suffering from the cold or lack of supplies.
