The Fountain Resource Group would like to pay tribute Dr Pearse Lyons who passed away due an acute lung condition that developed during his recovery from heart surgery. He was 73 years young.
Dr Lyons was founder of the American company Alltech though originally born in county Louth he had strong family ties to the Liberties.
In December 2013 the Lyons family purchased St. James’ Church (formally Church of Ireland). The historic St. James’ Church became the Pearse Lyons Distillery which opened its doors in autumn last year.
Dr Lyons was incredibly proud of his Liberties roots. His grandparents were married in St James church (Catholic) across the street and he had innate desire to give back to his own local community.
He and his wife, Dr Deirdre Lyons and have done much to renovate James Street and their new iconic glass spire has added greatly to the history of the Liberties. A history he loved and worked hard to promote. A history he is now a part of.
