#MindYourSelfie Day
The Walk In My Shoes’ Campaign #MindYourSelfie was launched on Friday the 8th of April. Thirty of Ireland’s A-List bloggers and celebrities were posting their selfies at the St. Patrick’s University Hospital’s #MindYourSelfie launch. Everyone loves a good old selfie, it is the way we see ourselves that sometimes matter more. Social media users in Ireland got an opportunity to show the world how much they love themselves on Friday and joined the celebrities that were snapping selfies of themselves.
Among the famous who joined the campaign was U2’s Adam Clayton, RTE’s Eoghan McDermott, broadcaster Rebecca Horan, Irish models Alison Canavan and Corina Grant and CEO Paul Gilligan, of St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services. Dustin the Turkey used a Walk In My Shoes selfie stick to take a selfie of himself.
“This Friday, 8th of April, we are asking all social media users to take a selfie and share it using the hashtag #MindYourSelfie and direct people to www.walkinmyshoes.ie to download the free mental health eBooks,” Sarah Surgenor, Head of Communications at St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services said.
The mental health information eBooks is part of a series that will be made available to primary and secondary schools, colleges, businesses and communities in Ireland. Each eBook has a different theme for each sector. The eBooks give advice on ways to take care of one’s mental health and informs the reader of the warning signs and causes of mental health problems.
Adam Clayton who is an ambassador for Walk In My Shoes said, “It is important to give young people the opportunity to talk about mental health in an informed, supportive environment. We developed the #MindYourSelfie eBook to provide a valuable and accessible resource for teachers in schools, colleges and businesses who are dealing with mental health issues every day.”
