Walk In My Shoes Radio Attempts New Guinness World Record

Walk In My Shoes Radio is back and will be broadcasting from St. Patrick’s Hospital from the 10th to the 14th of October during World Mental Health Awareness Week. This year they will also attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Mindful Lesson.

Schools across the country is being asked to participate in this attempt on Monday the 10th of October for a 30 minute mindfulness lesson. The class will be held and broadcasted as a Google Hangout in the lecture hall at St. Patrick’s University Hospital while connecting the lecture hall to other class rooms across the country.

“Our pop-up station is a small step in encouraging a dialogue about mental health that is free from stigma. We believe that encouraging people to support the station, and indeed the Guinness World Record attempt, will certainly help in opening the conversation about the importance of looking after your mental health,” Paul Gilligan, CEO of St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services said at the launch of the pop-up station.

Also speaking at the launch was Sarah Surgenor, Head of Communications: “Our station is all about encouraging listeners to prioritise their mental health and we feel very lucky that schools all over the country will join us in spreading this message as we attempt to set the record for the world’s largest mindfulness lesson together.”

The pop-up station aired for the first time last year, making history as Ireland’s first digital pop-up radio station and attempted to raise €10,000 for the treatment of young people with mental health disorders.

This year they will attempt the Guinness World Record and give a 30 minute lesson to students teaching them how to follow simple steps that can promote positive mental health.
