Jamestown Court Refurbishment

A regeneration of Jamestown Court in Inchicore began in earnest this month. The charity ALONE, which caters for elderly people, have commenced refurbishment of block A which will provide 12 new one bedroom flats. Work on this section of the development is expected to be completed by April 2020. Local residents welcome the development as the majority of the houses have been boarded up for a number of years leading to an increase in anti-social behavior.

ALONE acquired the site formally from Dublin City Council at the beginning of July and have also began plans for the remainder of the site. A design proposal will be ready before the end of the year. The project as a whole is expected to be completed by 2022 creating 50 age-specific homes for the more than 200 older people currently on the housing list.

That’s great news. Thank you, Alone! Isn’t it terrible the government isn’t keeping up with its duties? Time to get rid of the party in government, for not doing their job and not caring for its citizens. I won’t blame the City Council – yet – as I don’t know enough of the ins and outs and I know we have some excellent Councillors.
