Mental Health & Wellbeing Fair

Dublin’s first Mental Health and Wellbeing Fair will be taking place on the 21st of May at St. Patrick’s University Hospital.

The fair will be held on a Saturday and over 30 exhibitions have been listed to present the public with a variety of workshops in mindfulness, yoga, laughter yoga, zumba and music.

Exhibitions from local and national service providers are on the programme. The Fair will be hosted by Alan Shortt, well-known Irish TV Personality.

“I am delighted to be part of this mental health fair which promotes the importance of personal wellbeing and support.

As a public representative, I found it difficult to prioritise my own well-being, which in the end proved to be detrimental to my mental health.

I have been overwhelmed by messages of public support since sharing my experience, and it has given me encouragement to continue challenging stigma by raising awareness and understanding of mental health issues,” Robert Troy, local Fianna Fail TD, who will be engaging in talks at the Fair said.

The reason the Fair is being held is to educate those who suffer with mental health problems, providing the necessary tools needed to cope with mental health illnesses.

“The Mental Health & Wellbeing Fair is the second in a series of Mental Health Fairs that St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services are hosting in 2016 as part of their awareness raising campaign,  Walk In My Shoes.”
