So summers here and gone, and it’s back to school time, but what a summer we had here at fountain youth project, it was packed full of activities and adventure, we took 35 young people on residential trips ranging from Camping in the beautiful Hidden Valley Camping and Caravan park in Co Wicklow, and another group to the ever popular Cavan Centre in Co Cavan, while in Cavan we took part in loads of activities ranging from canoeing, hill walking, and the leap of faith, jumping from 60feet and trying to catch a triangle bar while attached to a harness, Scary.. But not as scary as the Ghost walk..even the leaders were a bit scared.
Another big part of the summer was our 2 week long Program. where we took 20 young people each week out on various trips like the Sea Safari, Leisure Plex, Fort Lucan, Clara Lara and lots more, in addition to this we ran clubs in July and August with activities like Cookery, Personal development, Fishing, swimming, etc.
So its time to start looking forward to the year ahead, and what a year we hope it to be, as always, We want all the young people and there parents in the area to take some ownership, its YOUR Youth Project, and your opinion is important, we have loads of our own ideas for groups and programs in the coming year, but we would still love to hear any ideas that you might have for programs, in the mean time, keep checking the notice board at the from of the youth project for what’s happening. we are hoping to have the drop in service up and running very soon as well as other sessions including Jobs Clubs, Cookery, Personal Development etc. Keep an eye out for the youth workers who will be doing regular street work sessions, this is where we get up out off our comfortable office and go a try to meet new and old members out on the streets in the community.
So we hope you have all settled back into school and congratulations to all those who completed their leaving Certificate last term, and remember to come along to our jobs club where we will try our best to assist you to make the next step into the work force.
