After a nine year hiatus the Fountain News returns to the community. The paper which has been providing the community with local news under the watchful eye of its previous editor Derek Freeney since its establishment in 1992 finally makes a new re-debut in digital form. The new format is in recognition of the changing times we, as a community are faced with, a new greener form of communication is needed, as after 9 years of printing 1600 copies of 10 page booklets once a month probably wasn’t the best for the environment!
In conjunction with up and coming computer classes being run from the Fountain Resource Group, it is hoped that the new format will also bring out the technophobes and become an attraction for those unfamiliar with the internet in the community.
The paper will once again be run on a monthly basis from this site. A printable format will be made available for those who just can’t read from the computer screen.
In each edition, there’ll be a collection of news stories from the local community compiled with regulars from the world of entertainment, lifestyle and local history.
The paper should belong to the community and it is hoped that people will make contact with the organisation to voice what they want in the paper and perhaps contribute their own point of view and have us publish it on the World Wide Web.
