This year’s Dublin’s Garden Festival will be held in one of Dublin’s most famous churches, Christ Church. The key part of the above sentence is the small word “in”, the church is to be transformed into what is described as “a stunning floral arcadia” with designs from the contemporary and the classic. The event will host a number of speakers renowned in their field giving top advice. The list so far includes Diarmuid Gavin (a famed gardening expert on both the islands of Ireland and Britain), Dermot O’Neill (editor of “Garden Heaven”) and Helen Dillon (world renowned plants expert) with more to be confirmed.
There will be horticultural displays, Irish gourmet food produce, urban gardens, afternoon tea, garden stalls and for the forever restless kids, a petting zoo (it should keep them momentarily distracted!). There will also be displays for tree surgery and bee keeping (don’t get too close!). Something I will be interested in personally, downstairs in the crypt will be an artisan market so by all means check it out and support Irish craftsmanship!
