Calling Volunteers To Join Team Dublin Clean-up
On Easter Sunday the 26th March, there will be a huge joint clean-up day taking place around the whole of Dublin city. The big clean-up, called the “Team Dublin Clean-Up Initiative”, will involve 10,000 volunteers taking to the streets of Dublin from 11am to 1pm.
Residents, community groups and businesses in Dublin are invited to take part and volunteer their services. Dublin City Council has organized this event to get the city ready and clean for the 1916 Centenary Commemorations.
The Clean-Up Initiative was launched today outside St. Catherine’s Church, Thomas Street in Dublin 8, with an tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh, Irish Broadcaster for RTE Joe Duffy and students from St Brigids National School The Coombe, there to host the event.
An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh was calling on 10,000 volunteers to join the litter-free campaign at today’s launch. Those who are interested in joining and volunteering their services can register on the website www.teamdublincleanup.ie.
“We hope to see a huge turn-out for the Team Dublin Clean-Up event on Easter Sunday. We were inspired to host this event following the success of the Team Limerick Clean UP in 2015. We know Dublin residents are proud of this city and will want to do their best to keep it litter free for the 1916 Commemorations,” Dublin City Council’s Brian Hanney from Waste Management Division said.
Waste Management Division will provide all the volunteers that register with equipment for the big clean-up day and they will also remove all the litter collected on Easter Sunday.

Normally City Councils give huge funding for these social events especially a huge serious event like this….and it creates employment (even if temporary) also the tourism drive behind this historical era no doubt will benefit hugely……..this is an embarrassing cheap effort
