Meet Awol Active

awol active

Awol Active is a three piece pop/punk group from Pearse Street, Dublin. The lads came down to Fatima on Wednesday and I had the pleasure of interviewing them.

This group consists of members: Simon Heapes (21) who plays the bass, Adam Boland (21) who plays the guitar and Conor Boland (18) who plays the drums. The group got together in 2012. I asked the lads where they draw their inspiration from:  “U2,  Thin Lizzy and Aslan”. They also influenced by the 90’s popular music group Blink 182, so much so they are known do a great cover of “All The Small things”. I asked the lads where they would like to be in 10 years time: “To have a couple of world tours, a global fan base and a few albums.”

I have seen these guys play live a good few times and they just totally rock! Recently, they performed at “Motion Control” in the Button Factory. I thoroughly enjoyed their performance and they put on an amazing show!

At the minute the lads are in the process of releasing their debut EP titled  “Unestimated”  produced by Dan Doherty. They hope to release their EP by July this year. The lads will be making an appearance this year at the Fatima Rock Music Festival here in the F2 center on Sunday 15th May. Watch this space!
