Friday Fun – If I were the Rose of Tralee
If I were the Rose of Tralee
What a wonderful night it would be.
I would walk like a queen
I would talk like a queen
But I know it can never be.
I’m just a plain Jane, but I’m hoping in vain
That they’ll see something special in me.
I’ve been hated and stared at by all
To see if I’m too short or too tall.
I’ve patiently stood for as long as I could
And now I’m so tired I could fall.
But I’ll stand here all night
In the hope that I might
Be selected as belle of the ball.
If I were the Rose of Tralee
But I haven’t a chance as you see.
Still all is not lost and my fingers are crossed
But it just couldn’t happen to me.
I’m poised on a ledge and my nerves are on edge
And I’m tossed like a cork on the sea
Cork on the sea, cork on the sea.
If I were the Rose of Tralee
What a wonderful night it would be.
I would walk like a queen
I would talk like a queen
But I know that it never can be.
I’m just a plain Jane, but I’m hoping in vain
That they’ll see something special in me.
