This week’s planning updates for Dublin 8 are posted below. The main story this week relates to the newly proposed Dublin Whiskey Company’s Distillery for Mill Street. The Distillery completes a trifecta of new distilleries for the Dublin 8 area, the other two being O’Hara’s proposed for the former Church of Ireland on James’ Street and Teelings based in Newmarket.
This distillery, as with the other two, will house its own visitors centre and cafe, along with a gallery. The last purposed built distillery established in Dublin was some 125 years ago and now over the space of a year we’ve had planning permission for three of them, all in Dublin 8! There have been some delays for the Dublin Whiskey Company’s bid as illustrated by this week’s decisions section, the Council have asked for more information on the proposal, as well, as some revisions to the design. We hope to carry out a brief interview with The Dublin Whiskey Company soon, so as always stayed tuned.
