Weekly Dublin 8 Planning Updates – Week Starting 03/03/14
The main noteworthy news of this week’s planning permission updates is the development of yet another large apartment complex in Old Kilmainham. The proposal (which is still waiting approval) would see the development of two 7 storey blocks, housing 54 apartments to the north and south of, and including the Cammock River, including no. 6 Kilmainham Lane and adjacent lands; no. 5 Auburn Terrace; and former Irish Cone and Wafer premises and ancillary buildings located at the corner of Shannon Terrace and Old Kilmainham and to the rear of nos. 1-4 Auburn Terrace, Kilmainham, Dublin 8.
This development combined with another proposed 7 storey apartment complex located only a few doors down at what is the fomer Des Donnelly Car showroom (article here), would see a new high rise skyline in the Old Kilmainham area. These and other developments I wish to address in another article coming shortly, however, it does suggest two things, that the property market is beginning to move again in the city. Secondly, that the location of the Childrens Hospital seems to be already leading to property developments in Dublin 8, as both these development are within a half kilometre of the hospital. Below is the rest of this weeks planning updates.
