We Need Your 1916 Family Stories & Memorabilia
The Fountain Resource Group needs your help for our local area’s 1916 Centenary Celebrations. We hope to host an exhibition telling the story of the Easter Rising in our area. Basically, we are looking for any folk story, account or materials people may have relating to Rialto, the South Dublin Union, Marrowbone Lane Distillery, Watkins Brewery, Roe’s Distillery or the Mendacity Centre during the Rising period.
We want to write down every story and copy any photo, which we will archive on our site for posterity, as well as, display them at our exhibition. The exhibition will be part of a series of events we hoped to host on the run up to the centenary starting in March. Please, if you know of any such accounts or would like to relate your family’s own stories don’t hesitate to contact us at Fountainresourceltd@gmail.com or on 01-453 2936.

DAN HORAN WAS MY GRANDFATHERS BROTHER ( TOM ) FROM LATER YEARS LIVED AT MARGARET TERRACE OFF CORK STREET THEREWERE 3 BROTHERS DAN JOHN AND THOMAS AND A SISTER MARY WHO I THINK WAS BROUGHT UP BY SOME RELATIONS ALSO I THINK THEY HAD ANOTHER BROTHER ABRAHAM HE WAS THE FIRST IN THE FAMILY AND LIVED APART FROM THEM I WOULD WELCOME ANY OTHER INFO ON THEM
Just came across this post recently and feel i should add to it. My grandfather was Abraham Horan a brother of Dans. Abraham married Anne Murphy in 1900 and my mother Kathleen was one of their five children…Abraham..Kathleen..Mary..Anne..Tom. I dont know when Abraham died but I dont remember him. I was born 1942. They then lived in Dolphins Barn Street on the corner of Emerald Square. My mother often spoke of the time her father(Abraham) was taken out in the middle of the night by the black and tans mistaken for his brother Dan. I remember when I was young going with my mother to visit Uncle Dan off Cork Street but I can only remember going in to a parlour in a house but no recollection of him.
