Volunteers Wanted for the Thomas Street Ambassador Programme

Thomas Street Volunteer Programme

The Thomas Street Business Association, in collaboration with Volunteer Ireland and the Dublin Civic Trust are looking for local people to become ambassadors for the Thomas Street area. The ambassador’s role will be to approach tourists with relevant cultural, historical and business information about the area. Applicants will be provided with the correct information, so this will also be an opportunity for locals to learn more about our locality.

Here is some information about the role:

One of Dublin’s most historic streets, Thomas Street is at the heart of the city’s heritage. As part of the ‘Mayday for Thomas Street – The 90 Day Plan’, we are looking for outgoing and knowledgeable Ambassadors to provide a warm, friendly welcome to visitors to Thomas Street during this year’s busy tourist season. This is an exciting opportunity to greet visitors from all over the world and show them why The Liberties is a vibrant and welcoming part of Dublin City Centre.

– Thomas Street Ambassadors volunteer two hours a week to walk the streets of The Liberties and approach visitors with relevant cultural, historical and business information about the area.
– Ambassadors are asked to commit 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 weeks
– Training & Support is provided by Thomas Street Business Association, the Dublin Civic Trust and Volunteer Ireland

– Shifts are outdoors from: 10am – 12.00pm / 12.00pm – 2.00pm / 2.00pm – 4.00pm
– Ambassadors will be based between Christchurch Cathedral and James’s Gate and will be expected to walk around The Liberties area
– Ambassadors must be over 18 and have conversational English
– This programme will run from August to the end of September 2013

– Thursday 11th July at 3.00pm in St. Catherine’s Church, Thomas Street
– Tuesday 16th July at 6.00pm in St. Catherine’s Church, Thomas Street
– Saturday 20th of July at 11.00am (time and location to be confirmed)
