Thursday Luas Delays
Luas services were disrupted Thursday evening after an incident on the red line, near Rialto. Trams travelling in both directions were halted for nearly two hours. It’s believed that a van veered on to the track, causing a power cut of from 9.35pm to 10.50pm. There are no reports of any injuries, and the emergency services where on site. The van was eventually towed away. Passengers left the halted trams and finished their journeys on foot or making their way to the nearest bus stop. While I was one of those passengers, who got of the Luas at Heuston Station and walked the two Luas stops to home. When I got up to the St James Hospital Luas stop there was another Luas sitting there in darkness. When contacted, Transdev, the Luas operator, said that the vehicle was stuck there for approximately 90 minute and that there were no injuries to the van driver or any Luas staff.
