Preparations Continue For Kilmainham Gig – First concert in the Republic since the pandemic began!
Despite growing speculation of a slowdown of easing of restrictions, preparations continue in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham for the first pilot concert since the Covid pandemic began in the Republic. The concert, which will take place on Saturday the 3rd of July next.
The MCD ran event will see a line-up that will include Gavin James, Lyra, Denise Chaila, Sharon Shannon, Wyvern Lingo and Wild Youth performing a full setlist. The event is being run in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Arts, the Office of Public works and the Dublin City Cooperation.
As the above image shows, several safety precautions will be taken to ensure the event keeps as much as possible with present Covid guidelines. Concert goers will be kept in numerous “pods” of 4 to 6 people, in fenced in front of the stage. Concert goers will also undergo rapid antigen testing at a nearby site before admittance to the main grounds. As an additional safety measure, overall attendance will be limited to 3, 500 instead, of the venue’s 23, 000 capacity.
There was alcohol at the event as it was recently granted a liquor license. This a major development in easing of restrictions and hopefully, all going well, will bode well for future events.
We wish all those attending a safe and fun day!
