Marrowbone Lane Fun Day
Friday 15th of August was a day that the residents of Marrowbone Lane won’t forget! The soccer pitch in the flat complex was opened to the public for the Marrowbone Lane Youth Project Open Day. The Open Day featured three bouncy castles, a DJ set and BBQ, not to mention face painting and other fun activities. The fun day was organised by the Fountain Resource Group to conclude this year’s summer project for the kids. The two face painting tables were hosted by local youth worker and art teacher Sharon Farrell, who works around the corner in the Busy Bees youth project. Sharon is an artist by trade, and the children queued all day long to get their faces painted.
One could enjoy a big juicy bun burger with all the trimmings and hot dogs. All the children were also given a goodie bag to take home if they lasted that long. The bag was full of sweets from chocolates to crisps and jellies. There was also another table on the pitch offering drinks to the children. The day was extra special as it didn’t rain, it held off making the day more enjoyable.
Children some of them from Oliver Bond’s Busy Bee’s and children from Marrowbone lane certainly had a great time.
There was a strong local turnout with local residents welcoming the fun day, one lady I spoke to said that the area would be at a lost only because of the Fountain’s involvement and dedication. Some of the locals went on to say how great the recent summer project was and that their kids already missed all the fun. The fun day was part of the summer project, and another one will take place next Friday 22nd August for the children in the Basin Street areas, just hope it doesn’t rain, good luck. Party starts at 2pm till 4pm.
