Guinness Storehouse Victory

The Guinness Storehouse which is situated here in our own wonderful Dublin 8 has been very busy recently fighting off some very stiff competition to become the Europe’s new tourist number one.

It has already beaten some of the continent’s great hallmarks, the Eiffel Tower, the Coliseum, and Buckingham Palace, to name but a few. It’s hoped the luck of the Irish will continue and the Storehouse will go on to win the tourist industry’s “Oscar”, the World Travel Award.

Since they opened their doors to the public some 15 years back over 13 million people have passed through to sample a pint of creamy Guinness, in the ever so popular 360 bar that has stunning views over the city.  Oh and of course, to learn the history of the iconic brewery.

It is without a doubt a huge achievement for the company to get this far and a great testament to all the staff at the Storehouse. However, I suspect there will be many who would savour the idea of being called the number one attraction on the planet.

This award has been left in the hands of the public, who now will vote as Guinness will now go against worldwide attractions. Paul Carty, Guinness Storehouse managing director said the award was a victory not only for Guinness but for the country’s industry, which has been growing very rapidly over the last 12 months.

We would like to wish Guinness the very best as they are our neighbours to us, at your favourite online digital newswire, the Fountain.
