Footie Hero HUGHIE MORRISSEY Joins LIBERTIES FC!
Liberties FC are proud and delighted tonight to announce that Hughie Morrissey has agreed to become manager of the Mens Senior Side for the season ahead as outgoing manager Keith Boylan moves ‘upstairs’ to a new role to develop the club off the pitch!
There is no-one in football at our level that has the experience, achieved the success or holds the stature that Hughie has in the game and it’s a real coup for us to have him on board! Hughie has been involved in many clubs from Fatima in the early days as a player manager, to sides like Bangor Celtic and most recently at Iveagh Celtic.
He’s won everything there is to win; The FAI Junior Cup, The Leinster Junior Cup, The Sheeran Cup as well as the top leagues in the AUL and the LSL! In fact it would probably be quicker to tell you what he hasn’t won, we could go on and on!!!
For Keith, it’s a chance for him to do what he’s very passionate about and thats developing this club on all levels as he becomes a full time committee member as well as being a liaison and support for both of the clubs managers – Hughie with the Mens Senior Side, and Peter O’Neill with the Over 35’s. Keith is going to be a very valuable resource for both in the coming months.
We want to place on record our huge thanks to Keith for all achieved as manager last year winning manager of the month awards before landing the club the Leinster football league Premier title in our very first season in existence. It was a season beyond all of our expectations. Keith – THANK YOU!
We are however convinced this is a huge step forward for the club, and very excited about the future, with Hughie and Peter developing the club on the pitch and Keith joining the hard working committee in developing the club off it!
Hughie has everyone’s support as he faces a very difficult first season stepping up to the LFL Major division but together we hope to bring even more success to the club and importantly, the local Liberties area!
