With the assistance of The MY Project (Music for Youth), the Fountain Youth Project is collaborating with the Swan Youth Project in a programme to train our music mad young people in the proper use of DJ equipment. Under the supervision of Evan Kenny from The MY Project, young people from 15-21yrs are being trained in the use of CD and vinyl turntables, mixing various styles of dance music and how to compile music sets which are appropriate for a varied audience with diverse musical tastes.
Evan has also introduced the young people to the use of computer software which allows them to produce their own music. The DJ programme runs for six weeks on a Wednesday evening at the Fountain Youth Project and will culminate with two music events where our DJs will showcase their newfound abilities in the company of their peers.
The two events will be held at the old convent building on Basin Lane, Dublin 8 which houses the Fountain Junior Youth Service and will cater for young people of the 10-15yrs age range. Provisional arrangements have been made for Friday 6th and 13th of December from 7.30-10pm.
Evan Kenny is a Qualified Youth Worker and Youth Music Coordinator @ The MY Project.
