(The Bank of Ireland in Inchicore Village is to be converted into retail/residential units)
Due to the Christmas Break, we have four weeks of planning proposals for your perusal this week. Don’t get too excited!
Among the big submissions this time are the following:
The Hueston South Quarter development has submitted for permission for an additional 5 block to contain a multi – purpose “Cultural Space”, a childcare facility, 126 apartments and retail floor space. The development has been plagued with delays and it seems that they are finally, in a position to move forward with the project.
The junction at Old Kilmainham Road and the South Circular Road has contained a derelict site for a number of years. The owners of the site, which is recognizable by an artist’s graffiti of an old Irish cottage, have submitted for permission for the building of 13 apartments and 1 retail unit.
Our Lady of Lordes School in Goldenbridge have submitted for planning permission of a two storey extension to contain 10 x special education tuition rooms, toilets, home school liaison office and a general purpose hall, as well as new play areas. This will be welcome news as another school can finally shed some of its unwanted prefabs.
The owners of the old Bank of Ireland bank (pictured above) in Inchicore Village are currently pursuing permission to change the purpose of the building to a mix of retail and residential, in what will be a very noticeable change to one of the icons of the area.
The Huge Cork Street/Brickfield Lane student accommodation has been granted an extension of permission.
And finally, the owners of what was “Scholars” bar and restaurant in the old school house on Donovan Lane are appealing a rejection of their proposed redevelopment of the building into apartments. They had also planned to built another three storey building adjacent to schoolhouse linked by a glass bridge, which also was planned to contain apartments and a ground floor cafe.
