Bridgefoot Street Park Campaign BBQ
The Bridgefoot Street Campaign have enjoyed much media attention lately. A group of people from a Dublin 8 community have come together to see if they can convince Dublin City Council to turn a site located on Bridgefoot Street into a park where families can come together and enjoy some time outdoors.
That part of Dublin 8 has no outdoor green spaces for parents and children to relax and play in and now, even though the community were told that a park will be something they will get, Dublin City Council has recently changed its mind and told them that they might have other plans for the site.
A housing estate has been proposed as the alternative to a park. At the moment it is being used for the community gardens that are located on the far side of the site.
As part of a campaign to help save the Bridgefoot Park initiative there will be a Fundraiser BBQ held on Saturday the 28th of May from 3 – 6 pm.
Hot Dogs, cake, squash, tea and coffee will be served and will cost €2 per person or €5 per family.
If you are not in the mood for a BBQ you can always join campaigners at City Hall at 3 pm who will be making banners for Monday’s protest.
On Monday the 30th of May Dublin City Council’s Development Plan Meeting will be held at City Hall on Parliament Street at 3 pm.
Bridgefoot campaigners will be getting together for a protest that will hopefully get them what they want – a park for the people!.
