Whiskey Magazine’s Icons Whiskey Rest of the World Awards 2016 is a global award ceremony that celebrates and recognizes the best whiskey makers and distilleries in the world. It has been running for the last nine years and partners up with the Scottish and American Icons Whiskey Awards.
The Teeling Whiskey Company who was awarded the Whiskey Brand Ambassador of the Year Award last year, has won 2016 Visitor Attraction of the Year Award. Teeling Whiskey was founded by Jack and Stephen Teeling, opened its doors in June 2015 and is located in the Liberties.
The Teeling Whiskey premises is attractive and in close proximity of the Guinness Storehouse, the Micro Brewery and other new visitor attractions. It is the only operational distillery in Dublin and the first one to open in 125 years.
“We are thrilled to have won the award for Visitor Attraction of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement for us and is testament to the unrivalled distillery experience we offer our visitors to Dublin. Since we opened our doors in June of last year we have welcomed over 30,000 visitors to date and we’re extremely proud of our hardworking team and what we have achieved in this short space of time,” Jack Teeling commented on their official website.
This year three new categories were introduced to the awards- Master Distiller/Master Blender, Travel Retailer and Supermarket of the Year. Teelings battled it out with eight other whiskey distilleries and were shortlisted for the Visitor Attraction of the Year Award, two of them Irish – The Jameson Experience and Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery. The winners of each category will now compete for the ultimate title of Global Winner and will be announced on the 17th March 2016 in London at the Whiskey Magazine Awards.
“ The whiskey industry is expanding worldwide with many new distilleries being planned to fulfill demand. These awards are in recognition of all those exceptional companies and individuals who are working hard to make their brand different and engaging. I look forward to presenting the overall Global winners in March,” Rupert Wheeler the Managing Editor and Chairman of the Icons of Whiskey announced.
About the selection process involved in picking the finest in the Whiskey Industry, Whiskey Magazine said: “Splitting the process into four stages, we invited people to nominate and vote for their Icons in America, Scotland and Rest of World. With new producers springing up across the world and craft distilling growing in popularity, it is no surprise that the results are representative of the increasing presence of whiskey on a global scale.”
From everyone here at Fountain Resource Group congratulations to the Teeling family!
