Vegan Smoothie – Kale and Chocolate


The vegan Dublin Vegfest is taking place next month, 11th of September, at the Griffith Conference Centre, Dublin 8. Why not try this vegan smoothie to get you in the mood for the festivities.

This is a Kale and Chocolate vegan smoothie by Elise Museles. I found this on the Reducetarian website, an organization that are working for a goal to reduce the amounts of animal products society consumes.


6-8 ounces cashew milk
1 cup kale, packed
2 tablespoons fresh mint, loosely packed
1 banana, sliced and frozen
1 tablespoon cashew butter
¼ avocado
1 pinch Himalayan sea salt
½ teaspoon spirulina
1 tablespoon cacao nibs
Toppings: cacao nibs, fresh mint sprig


  1. Blend nut milk and kale in a high-speed blender until smooth.
  2. Add in banana, cashew butter, avocado, mint and sea salt.
  3. Blend.
  4. Mix in cacao nibs and spirulina and blend quickly for about 10 seconds.
  5. Pour into a glass and top with more cacao nibs and a sprig of mint.

There you have it, one way of reducing animal produce and use, why have a milkshake when you can enjoy a healthier alternative like this one!
