Healthy Banana Bread


There are many banana bread recipes available but this is a healthier version and guilt free! You can also tweak this recipe to your liking by adding berries, nuts or choc chips!


250 g wholemeal flour
5g baking powder
2 g Salt
55g unsalted butter
30g natural yoghurt
110 light brown sugar
2 eggs (room temperature)
5 medium ripe bananas
Tsp of cinnamon
½ tsp of grated nutmeg

Optional: flaked almonds/pecans/ dark choc chips


1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C. Grease a 9x5inch cake pan.
2. Mix baking powder, flour and salt in a large bowl. Beat butter, yoghurt and brown sugar with an electric whisk until the mixture becomes lighter in colour. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing each one before adding the next. Add the cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in mashed bananas and choc chips until well combined. Transfer the batter into a loaf pan. Top with almonds if you like.
3. Bake in oven for roughly 60mins. Insert a toothpick into the centre of loaf, if it comes out clean it is ready. Let the bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack and allow it to cool completely.
