Dublin Bowie Festival


David Bowie (1947-2016) entertained audiences around the world with music and acting that takes you into another world for 51 years and that is where he now unfortunately finds himself, somewhere in space.

But do not let that dissuade you from enjoying the Bowie experience. For a whole five days Dubliners will get an opportunity to re-live the Bowie legend’s days here on earth.

David Bowie formerly known as David Robert Jones, was born in South London, and rose to fame as a singer, song-writer and actor. Sadly Bowie passed away on the 10th of January of 2016.

The Dublin Bowie Festival will be held from the 5th to the 10th of January, coinciding with his passing. There are more than 14 venues part-taking in the event and there will be something for every Bowie fan to enjoy.

Here in Dublin 8 on the 8th of January at Vicar Street, the band Rebel Rebel – The David Bowie Experience will play. This day would of course also have been David Bowie’s 70th birthday.

The line-up for the evening will incorporate a 2 hour set with the Very Best of Bowie and includes several of his albums up to his 2016 album Blackstar. Tickets are priced €28 and you can get them if you hurry at

If you do miss out on Vicar Street, you can always try and get into one of the other venues. The George, Whelans, The Grand Social, The Workmans, The Sugar Club, The Mercantile Hotel, The Opium Rooms, The Liquor Rooms, are just a few to mention.

The program will include a versatile Bowie festival that will host debates and discussions on the artist’s live, performances and work.
