Hungarian Goulash recipe – Our guide to making homemade Hungarian goulash!
INGREDIENTS
2 Tablespoons of Paprika Pepper
450g/1 lb. Braising Steak
3 Onions, chopped
1 Garlic Clove, crushed
1 Green Pepper, sliced
225g/8 oz. Canned Tomatoes, chopped
1 Tablespoon Tomato Puree
Parsley and Thyme
300ml/ ½ Pint Beef Stock
150ml/ 1/4 Pint Natural Yoghurt
25g/ 1 oz. Plain Flour
2 Tablespoons of Oil
METHOD
Season flour with salt and pepper and toss beef pieces in same. Heat oil in pan and fry beef until browned. Transfer to a casserole dish. Fry onions until soft, add garlic and paprika and fry for a further minute. Add to casserole dish with stock, tomatoes, tomato puree and bouquet garni and season with salt and pepper.
Cook in a preheated oven at 160 degrees C/ gas mark 3 for approx. 1 ½ hours or until meat is tender. Remove bouquet garni and add yoghurt before serving.
