United in Grief 6th September 2015
As the waves gently slush on to the sea shore
They break their way round you and rippled some more
As your tiny head laid there so still on the sand
An angel was sitting there holding your hand
And from your body your soul took its place
To raise up towards heaven as an angel of grace
And rest in a cradle in a softened white shroud
While the angels sing lullabies from a heavenly cloud
And when you awake they will take you to play
With all of your friends that were lost on that day
So hush little baby you’ve had a long day
Your body is tired so they took it away.
Your parents are sad back down on earth
But your life was predestined since the time of your birth
So hush little baby you’ve shown by your death
You’ve united all Europe in a grief that’s hard set
I wrote my poem as a tribute to the three-year-old Aylan Kurdi who was sadly drowned and his body washed up on a Turkish beach.
It took this little Angel’s life to unite Europe and bring people together.
May he be at peace in heaven away from all the hurt that mankind had bestowed on him in his shortened life.
