June 21 2014: Newmarket Square, Dublin 8 A cordial invitation is being sent out to all who enjoy good food, and support local producers to come along to Dublin’s newest food market launch celebration on Saturday 21st Jun, from 11.30 to 3pm where you will be warmly greeted with a glass of organic bubbly, or homemade lemonade, and share in the generosity of the founders with some wonderful food while the kids can enjoy the free entertainment and music! The founders and stall owners at The Green Door Market share a common ethos and believe a food market should have three core ingredients …. Great Produce, Great Producers and Satisfied Customers. This food market is the brain child of Deirdre O’Sullivan of Nurney Farm along with Christy Stapleton from Christy’s Greens who have grown and traded in organic foods for numerous years and who delight in engaging directly with their customers;
Now customers can delight their foodie senses with a vast array of Irish, local and artisan foods – there is everything from organic fresh meats from Coolanowle Farm, organic seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs and honey along with fresh fish from local fishmonger John Fitzsimons, and fresh chocolate truffles from Wexford. Indulge in some tasty wholefoods and muesli from The Good Crop Company.
Enjoy the artistry of Mary Morrin from Gardeners cottage who brings with her beautiful bouquets and plants all grown naturally in Co. Kildare. Tickle your fancy with some authentically made French raclettes, Tartine’s organic sour dough bread, or try a selection from The Real Olive Company – remember to check out their Toonsbridge buffalo mozzarella made in West Cork! Visit with Sarah from Lilliput Artisans and feast on Irish and European cheeses, and artisan produce from all over Ireland such as On the Wild Side’s charcuterie and pickled seaweeds – make sure to try the Silver Darlings Nordic style herring, all the way from Limerick.
This market has truly captured some of the finest food producers in Ireland and brought them together under one roof so it’s never been easier to buy direct from passionate producers who are only too happy to share their food journey with their customers! The market is housed indoors in a bright and airy space in Newmarket, just off Cork Street in Dublin 8. There is ample parking along with fabulous hot food and beverages with an informal seated area and children play section… all in a relaxed and cordial atmosphere.
The market runs every week – Thursday and Friday 12 to 7pm and 9.30 to 4 each Saturday… just look for the Green Door!
