PlayBack Theatre at St.Pat’s

This May the first Green Ribbon Month will take place nationwide with 500,000 green ribbons being distributed across the island. The Campaign is being organised by See Change, the National Stigma Reduction Partnership and 90 other partner organisations.

Green Ribbon Month will be about bringing awareness of mental health problems to “the table of every room in the house and work place”.

St Patrick’s University Hospital is hosting a special Evening of Storytelling, Tea and Chatter on Sunday the 21st of May 2017 here in James Street in support of Green Ribbon Month.

The event will be hosted from 7pm to 9pm and will feature Full Circle Playback Theatre. Playback Theatre involves the audience with the actors. This will be an opportunity for you to tell the audience your story, and the actors on stage will re-enact every story on the evening.

This sounds like fun doesn’t it? Make sure you don’t tell them too many horrific stories of your mental health history if you intend to go. Keep it child friendly – jokes, mental health problems are mental health problems, and no matter how big or small they are, sometimes it’s a good idea to help others understand the immensity of what you are living with or have experienced. Seeing this play off in reality is an eye-opener and should make for an interesting evening.
