The Gardai have launched a smart phone app which alerts the public about missing children, and which also allows users to store photos and useful information relating to their own children, just incase they need to utilise photos/info for a future missing child alert.

The app was launched yesterday – to coincide with National Missing Persons Day – by the Gardai and the Department of Justice, with support from Vodafone Foundation Ireland. It’s available for free on Apple, Android and Windows Media platforms.

The app itself will issue alerts about any suspected abducted children, with identifying information like physical appearance, plus any details of suspected vehicles/persons of interest that may be involved. The app also enables users to connect directly with the Gardai (via 112/999) and it has the facility to allow users to share alerts across their Facebook pages.
