Five Million Euro for Restoration of Dublin City Council Flats.

Five million Euro for restoration of Dublin City Council flats.

The Department of Housing and the County Council announced Wednesday that €5 million has been put aside for the restoration of 100 derelict flats before the end of 2021.

The flats include ones located at Pearse House, Oliver Bond House and Basin Street on the Southside as well as ones located on the Northside of the city.

The flats in question have been previously earmarked for regeneration by the Council and some of them have been uninhabited for up to 5 years.

A spokesperson for Dublin County Council said “The regeneration process can take a long time to bring to fruition and those vacant flats could be left vacant for a significant period of time which is hard to justify during a housing crisis. “
