The Tivoli Theatre exists only as a name and in the memories of Dubliners with the completion of the new Tivoli Square aparthotel complex in the heart of the Liberties.
The €70 million project was funded by DWS a German asset management company with a global property portfolio and the Irish-owned Staycity Group, Europe’s largest aparthotel operator.
In January 2018 the Tivoli Theatres long-time owner Anthony Byrne secured planning permission to redevelop the 0.392-hectare site.
Known as the Tivoli Regeneration Project and pitched as a major urban regeneration scheme it consists of 242 apartments, restaurants, retail space, and an exhibition centre.
The complex is centred around a civic square known as ‘Tivoli Square’ and includes internal and external exhibition/performance spaces with the intention of attracting a culturally rich mix of live performance, visual art and theartre, as well as business, community, and corporate events.
