Recently I was given a cert for computers in the Guinness hop store hosted by the Digital Hub, here in Dublin 8. Despite living 10 minutes walk from the hops store I was never in it and today opened a new door for me. Before the ceremony began, I decided to venture up to the Sky bar; I enjoyed a bird’s eye view of Dublin. I had often seen the Sky bar but today was different, today I was in it.
I stepped into a glass elevator on my up to the Sky bar but I was unsure of my new environment and got out as soon as I got in. Deciding for the safety of the stairs, I eventually reached my destination. Upon arriving I went straight to the windows, who wouldn’t? I focused my views towards Fatima then to Meath Place back up to Basin Street flats. The morning was lovely and clear.
People and cars reduced to dots moving to and fro around the hop store base. The circular bar had Guinness taps as far as the eye could see, well it would be hard to imagine Guinness selling alco – pops! After my little sightseeing trip I returned to my group when the ceremony was about to begin. My nerves were building and sweat was beginning.
The event was hosted by Maire, the co-ordinator of the Digital Hub, who waited till the very end to tell us where the exits where, just in case!! For another hose Rachael to call my name I could feel my nerves getting the better of me. I thought I was going to be called in the first ten or so…but no Paddy last. Was I smiling? I was told after I wasn’t, it was bad enough getting up there, but I was smiling on the inside…..
