Dublin’s Local Enterprise Week

‘Local Enterprise Week 2016’ begins today the 7th March and will be running for a week up to the 13th March. Dublin City with An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh will open the programme of events at Wood Quay Venue, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 today.

The week promises to be full of mentoring, advice and networking ideas for SME’s and Start-Ups in the city, with workshops and events throughout the week providing the necessary services and support for those who are interested in starting up their own businesses.

Some of the events on the agenda for this week will include:

Monday, 7th March – A morning session on how to reduce business costs and secure finance from public and private funders. The afternoon session will explore the business benefit of utilising the European Enterprise Network and advice on securing EU funding and taking Irish products and technologies to a global audience.

Tuesday, 8th March – International Women’s Day at the Davenport Hotel. The Smart Dublin website will be launched in City Hall.

Wednesday, 9th March – Darragh Doyle, and Irish online audience strategist, will discuss the importance of social media. He will provide tips and tools on how businesses can grow their online audiences and how to communicate effectively and efficiently, at low costs.

Friday, 11th March – Free mentoring sessions will be available for booking. The day’s theme is  “First Stop for Business”; there will be enterprise office experts and mentors there available for talks with participants.

Saturday, 12th March – Enterprise Boot Camp! This day is booked to  help participants find out how to develop their business ideas. The trainers and mentors will stand ready to advice participants and will be there to give them feedback throughout the day. Isolde Johnson of Cool Beans and winner of the Google “Best Use of Social Media” Award will share her experiences and talk about her career and business.

“We expect these events to book up quickly. Along with excellent speakers and trainers throughout the week we will also get to examine key issues for the city such as the provision of affordable Enterprise Space. We want to hear from those looking for space and from enterprise space providers. Is the city keeping up with the demand for affordable enterprise space? Come along on Friday, and find out,” Greg Swift the Head of Enterprise at LEO Dublin City said. Most of the sessions during the week will be free of charge.

This week will showcase the range of supports available to assist start-ups and small business to set up and grow in the city.
