Kitten Doll Retro Shop Review

Vintage is the word these days. Recently, while walking down Thomas Street here in our wonderful Dublin 8, I happened upon a shop called “Kitten Doll”. It breathes all things Vintage, including Men & Women’s clothes, household accessories, ceiling light fittings, it is a shock to the senses to be in a environment of our recent past.

This discovery of our own little Aladdin’s Cave was entirely by accident.  Thomas Street has been slowly turning into our own little Convent Garden over the last period, a trend set to continue with recent news of other large developments in the area such as the refurbished Iveagh Markets and distilleries. Thomas Street as become hop, maybe it was the NCAD or Vicar Street, but it is slowly metamorphosing into something fashionable and confident.  This trendy vibe is perfectly articulated by Kitten Doll.  I was floored when I went in to Kitten Doll shop. Something got my fancy in their shop window and in I went. To say it was just like an old second hand shop, you would be right because everything in it is used but its vintage and that’s what makes Kitten Doll so very unique.

They have a great line of ex army Jackets, and uniforms to fit any man’s size, taste and budget. Also, with the fancy dress season coming in for Halloween, for the more astute costume designer, “Kitten Doll” is a clever place to built costume for next to nothing. They also have old Levi’s Jeans & Jackets, circa 1990s, I miss them.  It is not just a novelty, the vintage jeans, scarves, jackets, shoes, belts and t – shirts are stylish as they were then, and it’s real not reproductions, real material.

Ladies don’t be put off your well covered!  The clothes are sophisticated and timeless but I’m not going to comment on the handbags. Not really my thing! But you name it they have it.

We tend to think when it comes to Vintage it’s all very pricey, some items you may pay that little bit extra for, but bear this in mind if you see something you like, you can pay a small deposit, and wait for it, you can pay a small payment each week. This shop Kitten Doll seem to be able to fit Vintage with affordable prices, and it makes you want to go out and buy something rare and very unique for yourself. They also sell curtains, if you buy a pair or anything in clothes or textiles, and if they need to be taken up a little, it will be no problem as they have a sewing machine and they will do the alterations for you, now that’s what you can call a decent service, and it gets better at Kitten Doll, you can bring in textiles and they will do alterations for you there and then.

They host a great selection on household accessories lovely ceiling light fittings and snazzy shades. They also have floor lamps, wall art, pictures, for the renovator. They also have a decent collection of Jewelry (a lot of which is handcrafted), and again you can pick something out pay a deposit and pay for it on a weekly basis.
