Remove Chewing Gum from Clothes
To remove chewing gum from carpet or clothing, scrape off as much as possible with a blunt knife. Put two to three ice-cubes in a plastic bag and rub over spot until the gum freezes. Repeat as needed and remove gum.
Remove Grease/Wax from Clothes
To remove grease or wax from clothes. Place item on a towel. Put a sheet of brown paper over stain. Press gently with a warm iron. (Don’t use a hot iron as paper will burn). Grease will be absorbed by paper.
Remove Ink from Clothes
To remove ink stains: If it is a washable ink, use cool water. Permanent pen and biro stains need methylated spirits. Dab on same and leave for approx. 30 minutes, then blot with a sheet of kitchen towel.
Avoid Grease Build-Up In Cooker
A simple tip for avoiding grease build-up in your oven is to periodically wipe the inside with a vinegar-soaked cloth.
Clean White Shoes
To clean white shoes, wipe them with a cloth dipped in ammonia.(This works on canvas too) Remove scuff marks with a dab of non-gel white toothpaste.
Taking Care of Suede
Don’t get perfume, hair spray or any other alcohol-based product on suede. It will cause the colours to run.
