Festivals Taking Place This Summer in Dublin

Going to festivals every summer is a tradition for many people but unfortunately many can come with a hefty price tag. Here I have gathered some of the best festivals taking place across Dublin this summer, which I promise won’t break the bank!

Beatles Festival

When: 13th – 15th July
Where: Temple Bar.
Price: Free

The biggest Beatles Celebration in the world providing three days of music & events is a must for any Beatles fan. Taking place in Temple Bar this wonderful festival features tributes from the best live bands from Ireland & the UK, Comedy shows, an Art exhibition and many more.

Dublin City Soul Festival

When: 24th – 27th May
Where: Merrion Square.
Price: Free

Founded in 2007, this festival is overflowing with entertainment such as the Soul Picnic, Gospel Brunch, Soul Cinema, Instrumental Art Exhibition and a Restaurant Trail. Make sure to make a donation all proceeds go to the festivals own charity the “Musical Youth Foundation” providing children with access to a musical education.

Forbidden Fruit Festival

When: 2nd – 4th June
Where: The Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
Price: Tickets from €49.50

In its second year running, this festival provides a combination of music, art, comedy and fashion. Five stages with a line-up of international music acts such as Republic Of Loose, New Order, Bloody Beetroots, Leftfield, James Vincent and many more.

Dublin Writers Festival

When: 4th – 10th June
Where: National Concert Hall, Liberty Hall, Abbey Theatre & Project Arts Centre.
Price: Tickets €8-€20.

Since 1998 the Dublin’s Writers Festival has been celebrating the very best of Irish & International Writers. This festival provides us with a diverse range of poets, writers of fiction & non-fiction, lyricists, playwrights & screen writes. This event includes special guest appearances from Josh Ritter, James Fearnley, Christopher Paolini and Nobal Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa.

Taste of Dublin

When: 14th – 17th June
Where: Iveagh Gardens.
Price: Tickets from €20.
A must for all foodies! Ireland’s biggest dedicated food and drink festival, providing us with tasty dishes by famous chef’s and restaurants, cooking demonstrations and lots more. Expect to see some of the most famous chef’s showcasing their culinary skills such as Jamie Oliver, Neven Maguire and Darina Allen.

Street Performance World Champion

When: 19th – 22nd June
Where: Merrion Square
Price: Free

This festival is sure to provide an array of talents. Expect to see a wonderful display of the best contortionists, magicians, break dancers, comedians as they battle to win the title of “Street Performance World Champion”.

Dublin Pride Festival

When: 22nd June – 1st July
Where: Dublin central
Price: Free

Thousands of people take part in Dublin’s Gay Pride Parade every year. This festival provides a jam packed programme including art exhibitions, talks theatre, quizzes, parties and club-nights, carbaret and plenty more.
