Real Gone Kid: Deacon Blue @ The Olympia

2013 Deacon Blue Review @ Olympia Dublin

It was another great night on Wednesday the 18th September when Deacon Blue, the great group from Scotland, played to a packed house at the Olympia Theatre here in our wonderful city of Dublin. This gig was just brilliant and it ticked all the boxes for me. Ricky and the other five piece group – including the great Lorraine Macintosh – delivered what was expected of them.

Deacon Blue came on at 8.45pm and put on a great show until nearly 11pm. Hits they sang including Wages Day, Fergie Sings The Blues, Your Swaying Arms, Your Town, Queen of New Year, and Real Gone Kid, which then got everybody up on to their feet singing and clapping. The place was rocking.

The band came back on after the curtain call with their very good cover of I will Never Fall in Love Again, and then went straight in to their classic Dignity which again had the whole place rocking. The Olympia Theatre gives the audience a chance to interact with their chosen acts, the stage is very near and this is what makes the Olympia Unique when they stage a gig.

The show was fabulous from start to finish. Ricky was very good, and even was very good with his jokes. Lorraine Macintosh looked very well in her black all in one strapless suit. She still has plenty of years ahead of her, if last night had anything to do go by. She had plenty of energy on stage last night.

Deacon Blue what can I say? Real Gone Kid.
