Fountain Youth Project’s Christmas Light’s Ceremony
Alan Finn recounts our Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. We would just like to thank everyone involved for making this event possible.
It was all smiles at the Fountain Youth Project’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Local people were in for a treat, with refreshments and live music from local young people on the cards. On hand to lend their support was Dublin based boy group “Taken” along with local “Love/Hate” celeb Keith Fitzpatrick. Keith is a native of Basin Street and a member of our Fountain Youth Project, who started his acting career on our film programme.
Despite the weather been fairly cold, it didn’t put a damper on events when it came to locals coming out to support the event.
Starting proceedings, we had a choir mix of our own Fountain Youth and SICCDA’s Choir, who put us in to a festive mood with Christmas Carols. We would like to say a big thank you to all the kids who sang their hearts out. “Taken” who were nearly drowned out by the screams of local girls, then took to the stage. The band is made up of Ste Barron, Mark Flood, Eoin McMahon and Richard Power. Ireland has a history of highly successful boy bands, particularly, for our size. The way these lads performed makes me think they are at the beginning of something big. After their set, the members of Taken then braved the cold and went outside to have photos taken with their young fans, and sign some autographs.
Taken have just released a song titled “Time Out ” on I-tunes and its availed on I-tunes for download.
Hot drinks were on hand and were served out by our youth worker Paul and some of the young people who use the project. While Keith Fitzpatrick switched on our tree lights.
What a great day it turned out to be, I wish all Mondays could be as good as this event.
