Are You In The Mood For A Lecture?

Large Lecture Hall

Thinking of going back to school and sitting in lectures that go on forever is a dreadful thought to most of us. You might be reminded of the boringness involved with it or perhaps being reprimanded when talking in class.

St. Patrick’s University Hospital has been hosting lectures in their Lecture Theatre that are not at all like the ones you had to sit in when you were still a college graduate. They are lectures for the mature and the insane.

Only joking, these lectures are for those who have an interest in knowing more about mental health and the treatment involved and will give you a greater insight into how to cope with mental health disorders.

The lectures take place every second Wednesday of every month at the Lecture Theatre in the Swift Centre of the St. Patrick’s Hospital and starts at 7.30 pm. There are six lectures left. The first six are over, but don’t worry you don’t have to feel that you have missed out on anything, the lectures are recorded and are available online in video and audio format for each month. Here below is a list of the remaining lectures still to be held.

July 13th: “The History of Mental Health Care in the early 20th Century” by Dr Lisa Butterly, Historian and Patient Advocate.

August 10th: “Supporting the Mental of People Living with a Life Limiting Illness” presented by Dr. Regina McQuillan, Palliative Medicine Consultant, St. Francis Hospice and Beaumont Hospital.

September 14th: “Resilience as a Way through Adversity: Recent Developments in Research” presented by Mark Morgan PhD, Cregan Professor of Education & Psychology, St. Patrick’s College, Dublin.
